Every month we print one photograph on the front of the magazine, two more inside, and fifteen finalists after that. Open to anyone with a print subscription, shooting anywhere in the Wellington region.

Printed and credited
The fifteen strongest entries are printed in the issue, each with the photographer's social handle underneath. No prize, but it's ink on paper with your name on it.
02 / How it works
Four steps.
It covers the issue in your letterbox and your entry to that month's round. There is no separate entry fee. Founding members pay $10 for their first month, $25 after that. Digital-only subscribers can't enter.
Anywhere from Wellington city out to the Kāpiti Coast, the Hutt Valley and Wairarapa. It has to be your own photograph.
One frame per person, per round. Full resolution. A cover needs roughly 3500 px on the short edge to print cleanly.
Placings are announced before the issue goes to print. Everyone who placed is contacted first.

Submit your frame.
If you're already a print subscriber, fill this in. If you're not, start the subscription first. It's the same $25 that puts the magazine in your letterbox.
Questions
Do I have to pay to enter on top of the subscription?
No. The monthly print subscription is the entry. $10 for your first month as a founding member, $25 after that. If you subscribe, you can enter that month's round at no extra cost. There is no way to enter without a print subscription.
Who owns the photo after I enter?
You do, always. Entering gives FABER permission to print your photograph in the magazine and to show it in promotion of that issue, with your credit attached. It is not exclusive and it is not a transfer of copyright. You can keep selling, licensing and posting the image anywhere you like. The full wording is in the competition terms.
Can I enter a photo I've already posted?
Yes. It has to be yours, shot in the Wellington region, and you have to hold the rights to everything in it, but it doesn't need to be unpublished.
Are there restrictions on editing?
Edit it however you like. It's a photography competition, not a documentary one. Composites are fine as long as every element is your own work. Fully AI-generated images are not eligible.
Who judges it?
The editor, plus a guest judge each month where one is available. Judging is on the strength of the image, not on follower count.
What if I place and I'd rather not write anything?
The written piece is optional at every placing. Your photo runs either way.
